Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon presided over a meeting during his inspection of Soght Oblast, requesting relevant departments to develop and submit a plan for the development of the black metallurgy industry from 2027 to 2035. Behind this decision is the accelerated promotion of the industrialization strategy of this Central Asian country - shifting from simply exporting mineral resources to establishing a complete metallurgical production system and increasing the output of high value-added products. For Tajikistan, which has a certain mineral resource foundation but is long limited by processing capacity, the upgrading of the black metallurgy industry is not only related to economic growth, but also carries the strategic intention of transforming resource output into industrial value.

Construction of the entire industry chain system

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan stated that the plan aims to promote further development of the country's metallurgical industry, establish a complete production system, improve the efficiency of mineral resource utilization, and increase the output of high value-added products. In recent years, Tajikistan has made industrialization a national development priority, focusing on promoting the development of domestic processing industries and reducing dependence on raw material exports. This plan not only involves the construction of production capacity, but also includes expanding the application of public-private partnership mechanisms and improving the industrial talent training system. Rahmon requires relevant departments to re-examine the talent training system in key industrial fields based on modern industrial production needs, and provide technical talent support for industrial upgrading.

Attract manufacturing projects to land

According to the conference deployment, local governments need to provide land support for new manufacturing projects, encourage private enterprise investment, and promote export-oriented industrial production. Tajikistan is trying to attract more domestic and foreign capital into the manufacturing sector through policy guidance and investment environment optimization. For industries such as infrastructure, metallurgy, and building materials, external investment and technology introduction will become important factors in enhancing industrial competitiveness. Chinese enterprises have also become important partners in their industrial cooperation, providing potential market opportunities for domestic metallurgical equipment, engineering construction, and investment fields. Transforming resource advantages into value

As a resource-based economy, Tajikistan has long faced the bottleneck of limited resource processing capacity. The launch of the development plan for the black metallurgy industry marks the country's transition from exporting raw materials to deep processing industries. With the improvement of the production chain, the increase in the efficiency of mineral resource utilization, and the expansion of high value-added product production, Tajikistan is expected to build a competitive black metallurgy industry system in Central Asia, while also providing cooperation space for foreign investors in mining development, metallurgical equipment supply, power distribution infrastructure construction, and other fields.Editor/Gao Xue
