The Vietnamese plateau in July is scorching hot. Amidst the mountains of Duonong Province (now Lintong Province), a brand new industrial castle is radiating with fiery vitality. As a fiery red liquid primary aluminum slowly flowed out of the electrolytic cell, an uncontrollable cheer echoed from the scene. At this moment, not only does it mark the birth of the first ton of locally produced primary aluminum in Vietnam's history, but it also means that this Southeast Asian country's long-standing dependence on imported primary aluminum has been officially broken.

Faced with the dual pressure of cross-border logistics obstruction and the long rainy season, the project team of China Nonferrous Metals Construction Co., Ltd. has achieved astonishing acceleration on this land. From construction to production, they not only shortened the overall construction period by three months, but also advanced the contract milestone by 50 days at a critical moment. This is not only a victory in engineering, but also a vivid practice of Chinese technology and standards landing overseas.

Acceleration above the plateau

Turning back to July 7th, the 112 electrolytic cells in the first phase of the project were successfully powered on in one go, and the entire process went smoothly without any delay. In the following days, the 16 electrolytic cells in workshops one and two smoothly entered the stable roasting stage. The project team has achieved precise overall management, connecting every link from design, procurement to construction and commissioning, and implementing a two shift closed-loop operation. Under complex geological and climatic conditions, the entire process from power transmission, roasting to aluminum production has been achieved with zero faults. This efficient performance capability has broken the construction record for large-scale electrolytic aluminum EPC projects in Southeast Asia.

Fill the industry gap

Prior to this, although Vietnam had abundant bauxite resources, it had long been a blank in the field of primary aluminum smelting. This 450000 ton per year electrolytic aluminum plant is Vietnam's first large-scale modern electrolytic aluminum project. Its completion and operation have enabled Vietnam to achieve large-scale production of primary aluminum domestically for the first time. This not only ended Vietnam's history of no local primary aluminum production capacity, but also established a complete industrial chain from ore mining to aluminum processing, greatly enhancing its position in the global aluminum industry landscape.keywords:Southeast Asia engineering information network

China's standard for going global

As a model project of international production capacity cooperation between China and Vietnam, this project is not only a stacking of steel and equipment, but also a collective debut of Chinese standards and equipment. Relying on first-class engineering technology, China National Chemical Corporation has brought advanced electrolytic aluminum technology system to Vietnam. With the orderly release of 150000 tons of production capacity in the first phase and the steady progress of remaining electrolytic cells in the future, this factory will become a shining business card for China to build overseas, injecting strong impetus into the development of regional economy.Editor/Yang Meiling
