Albania in the Balkan Peninsula is accelerating the iteration of energy infrastructure, and the local energy department has signed three important agreements with Germany, receiving a total of 114 million euros in funding support. This funding takes into account the upgrading of the power grid, the repair of power stations, and the renovation of campus buildings. It not only strengthens the domestic power supply guarantee, but also continues the long-standing tradition of green energy cooperation between the two countries, injecting new impetus into the energy development of Central and Eastern Europe.

Revitalize energy infrastructure

This cooperation includes a loan of 90 million euros and a grant of 24 million euros, signed by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, Enekkalakachi, and the German Ambassador to Albania, Kalbergna. The first funding will be used for the digital transformation of the transmission network, promoting the automation of substation and grid management processes, and improving the stability of power supply. The second part of the funding will support the restoration of the 250 megawatt Udayes hydropower station, which is a state-owned core power station that will undergo modernization and ensure long-term operation. The green energy cooperation between Germany and Albania has a solid foundation.
