The Buenos Aires Metro has launched a comprehensive modernization upgrade, and the local old subway lines have undergone technological upgrades. The local subway line B has finalized the Chinese signal system plan, breaking the long-term monopoly of overseas brands and empowering Argentine urban transportation with advanced rail transit technology to improve quality and efficiency.

Upgrade and orderly implementation

According to local media in Argentina, Buenos Aires Metro Company has confirmed that CRRC Times Electric will supply the GoA2 level CBTC signal system to replace the original ATP system on the line, which is also the core content of the modernization renovation of Metro Line B. The renovation will be equipped with 174 brand new subway vehicles, which will be supplied by CRRC Changke. The new trains will be delivered gradually in the first quarter of 2027, initially using the existing system for operation, with reserved conditions for CBTC system upgrade and adaptation.

Realize technological breakthroughs

According to the official plan, the CBTC signal system will be put into use in the 20th month after the signing of the construction order. It will initially adapt to 17 trains and cover all 29 trains in the 34th month, while simultaneously dismantling the original signal system. This cooperation is the first time that the Buenos Aires Metro in Argentina has applied the Chinese signal system, and many other local lines have adopted Siemens related equipment. The original system of Line B was supplied and installed by a Brazilian company in 2003, and the technology was traced back to European and American companies. The Chinese solution was successfully implemented, rewriting the local rail transit technology landscape.Editor/Min Jing
