Minas Gerais State in Brazil has launched the planning work for Light Rail Line 4, with a total investment of over 500 million US dollars. The line connects two cities and can also be connected to existing subway lines for transfer. The huge demand for infrastructure and vehicle procurement also brings new market opportunities to overseas engineering enterprises.

Project Core Overview
The light rail project connects Beiting and Kongtaren, with a total investment of over 500 million US dollars, including infrastructure investment of 2.1 billion reais and vehicle procurement investment of 702 million reais. The total length of the line is 22.8 kilometers, with 24 stations and 1 comprehensive transfer hub, which can connect to Belo Horizonte Metro Line 1 at El Dorado Station. The project will reuse the existing land for the El Dorado branch railway and adopt a ground light rail system, with basic design carried out by the State Department of Infrastructure and Transportation. 32 sets of 42 meter long light rail trains are planned and configured, with each train carrying about 420 passengers. The operating speed is 25 kilometers per hour, and the departure interval during peak hours is about 4 minutes. Keywords: Brazil Light Rail Project, Latin American Infrastructure Going Global

Line linkage layout
The Light Rail Line 4 will also form an operational connection with the extension of the Belo Metro Line 1. In August 2025, the Brazilian federal government approved the expansion of Metro Line 1 to Contaren by 3.6 kilometers, adding two new stations: Beatrice Station and San Jo ã o Park Station. Multiple rail transit systems are interconnected, improving the regional public transportation network and enhancing urban commuting efficiency. This project is in the planning and design stage, and there is considerable market potential for future infrastructure and vehicle equipment procurement. It is worth the continuous attention of Chinese enterprises interested in exploring the Latin American market.Editor/Min Jing
