The Australian High Speed Rail Authority is promoting the development of the Newcastle Sydney high-speed rail project and has selected three international consortia to participate in the early contractor participation process. Currently, there are no Chinese companies on the shortlist. The high-speed railway is designed to have a maximum speed of 320 kilometers per hour, and after opening, the travel time between the two places will be reduced to about 1 hour. The fastest round-trip travel time between the central coast is only 30 minutes. The project abandons the development of new technologies and adopts globally mature high-speed rail technology, while optimizing and adapting to local standards. The shortlisted entities include Alstom UGL consortium, ARC consortium, and Hitachi Railway STS Australia.
