This line is not just an extension of the track, but also a core artery connecting millions of people, more than 50 new developments, and multi network transfers, allowing underground space to be directly transformed into a new engine for urban expansion and asset appreciation.

Pre qualification run begins

On September 7, 2026, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority will welcome the submission of pre qualification documents for the Metro Gold Line project. This is less than half a year after RTA issued the pre-approval notice in June and solicited participation intentions in May, and the pace has significantly accelerated.

According to the rules, the shortlisted contractors are required to undertake the design and construction of the entire civil engineering, electromechanical, vehicle, and track systems, as well as accompany them for maintenance and operation for the first three years after the opening of the project. Last October, AECOM in the United States won a consulting contract, covering the entire process from conceptual design to the defect liability period, effectively laying a solid foundation for the early-stage technology. With the entry of pre review materials, Jinxian officially moved from drawing to the construction site.

42 kilometer city crossing line

In April 2026, RTA announced the direction of the gold line to the public: it is over 42 kilometers long, buried underground, with 18 stations, and crosses 15 areas of Dubai. Departing from Al Ghubaiba Station in Burdubai in the west, arriving at Jumeirah Golf Estate in the east. Along the way, it not only transfers with the existing red and green lines, but also connects to the Etihad Railway passenger network.

The most intuitive value of this line is to fill in the gaps. After completion, the total mileage of Dubai Metro will increase by about 35% at once, covering the travel needs of about 1.5 million residents, and providing rail transit interfaces for 55 under construction real estate projects. For developers, the site radius is the premium for new properties; For commuters, they no longer need to rely on road transportation from the west to the east of the city.

Real estate driven infrastructure

Behind the golden line stands Dubai's continuous years of urban expansion in a pancake like manner. Among the 15 areas that have been crossed, many are new city blocks that have only started construction in the past five years. If there is no rail support for the 55 under construction buildings, the road carrying capacity and asset liquidity will be tight. RTA first builds the track into barren land, and then uses stations to feed back the land value, which is a typical logic of exchanging infrastructure for growth.keywords:Engineering infrastructure

The total investment of the project is about 34 billion dirhams, equivalent to 9.2 billion US dollars, and it is planned to be completed in September 2032. Once the shortlist for the next stage and the formal bidding package are determined, the main contractors in the Middle East and North Africa engineering market are likely to participate in another round. For Dubai, on the day when the gold line is laid, the east-west passenger flow map of the city will be redrawn.Editor/Yang Meiling
