The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and SPIC recently held working talks on the progress of the construction of a 1 GW wind power project in Pavlodar Oblast. The project plans to attract $1.2 billion in foreign direct investment and is expected to be put into operation in 2029. According to the news agency of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, during the talks, both sides discussed the current progress of the project and the implementation plan for the next stage.

The project is jointly implemented by China State Power Investment Corporation and Pavlodar Green Energy, and the construction site is located in the Ekibastuz region. According to the plan, the project will also be equipped with an energy storage system with a power of 300 megawatts and a capacity of 600 megawatt hours. The Ministry of Energy pointed out that after the completion of the project, it will further increase the scale of renewable energy generation and enhance the stability of the local power system.

During the meeting, both sides also exchanged views on other potential cooperation directions in the energy field and the implementation of new joint projects.
