The construction of the east-west transportation corridor in Georgia has made new progress, and Chinese infrastructure companies have once again ventured into the overseas transportation market. CRTG Bureau has successfully won the local key highway project, relying on mature engineering technology to help upgrade the local road network and improve the Asia Europe land transportation system.

The project volume is considerable

Recently, CRTG officially signed a contract with the Highway Bureau of the Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure to undertake the construction of key road projects in the local east-west transportation corridor. The project contract amount is 809 million lari, approximately 310 million US dollars, and the entire process has received financing support from the Asian Development Bank. This project is an international bidding project, and the enterprise was awarded the bid in October last year. The overall construction period is 4 years.

The total length of the project route is 11.3 kilometers, and the core construction content includes a 7.6-kilometer-long bypass tunnel, a 1.5-kilometer-long bridge crossing the Choruhe River, as well as supporting slope reinforcement, rockfall protection, and a 500 meter Black Sea coast protection project. After the completion of the project, the old coastal roads crossing three residential areas will be replaced, and the traffic efficiency and safety between Batumi and Türkiye will be greatly optimized.

Empowering regional connectivity

This project is the core link of Georgia's east-west transportation corridor and an important component of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation and Trade Corridor. The Asian Development Bank has been increasing its infrastructure investment in Georgia for a long time, and has previously assisted in the construction of multiple core road network projects, with a cumulative investment of over 1.1 billion US dollars.
