On the Moscow Nizhny Novgorod route in the early morning, a new train slowly approached Vladimir Station. For passengers, this is just an ordinary station, but for the Russian domestic traction equipment at the bottom of the carriage, it is a tough battle - the train has to switch between DC and AC electricity without stopping or slowing down. In the past, such work was long handled by the technical system of Siemens in Germany, but now the protagonist has been replaced by the Finist Advanced Edition produced by Ural Locomotive Works in Upper Peshmar.

Trial of the Five Thousand Mile Ring Road

Recently, the new car has been submitted for acceptance and certification testing. According to the news department of Sinara Transport Machinery Group, all tests are expected to be completed by November 2026. The first stop is the experimental loop near Moscow in Shelbinka, where the train will run a full 5000 kilometers for trial operation, while undergoing traction and energy testing. Several systems that were first applied to locomotives and vehicles were listed as key assessment objects: engine cooling system, automatic carriage door, and head automatic coupler cover opening system. Experts from the All Russian Institute of Transport and Health will measure the noise and vibration levels in the passenger compartment on board, and study new seat layouts and placement of additional equipment. After the loop is completed, the train still needs to continue trial operation on the public section of Moscow Nizhny Novgorod Moscow.

Switching between DC and AC

The most critical part of the entire test is to check the performance of the traction equipment when switching between DC and AC power, with the switching point located at Vladimir Station. This tests not only the converter and control system, but also the stability under frequent switching of power supply modes. The maximum speed of the train design is 160 kilometers per hour, with an average acceleration of 0.7 meters per second ². These two indicators directly determine whether it can run competitively in inter regional transportation within 700 kilometers.

New experience in the carriage

The basic configuration consists of 5 carriages and 311 seats, which can be adjusted to 4 to 12 carriages according to customer requirements. There are two service levels for tourism and business in the car, with differences mainly in decoration materials and seat layout: the business compartment is equipped with a video conferencing negotiation area and a mini kitchen, all seats have USB charging ports, free Wi Fi throughout the journey, and a microclimate system with air disinfection function. Accessible facilities, passenger counting systems, and adjustable brightness and color temperature cabin lighting have also entered standard configurations.keywords:Engineering infrastructure

Facing inter regional transportation within 700 kilometers, this vehicle is aimed at the main position left by the Yanzi. Looking further ahead, Ural Locomotive Works is still pushing forward with the design speed of 400 kilometers per hour and the operating speed of 360 kilometers per hour for the White Sea East Qing high-speed train, with plans to produce 43 trains to serve the Moscow Saint Petersburg high-speed railway that will open in 2028. Every kilometer completed on the Circle and Main lines by the Fennister Premium Edition is paving the way for the faster step.Editor/Yang Meiling
