When the wind of the Balkan Peninsula swept over the Pannonian plain, two white giant towers rose up in the wilderness of Serbia. The Č ibuk 2 wind farm, jointly built by Masdar and Taaleri Energia, not only connects the largest wind power matrix in the Western Balkans, but also reshapes the energy pulse of this land with clean kinetic energy.

Masdar and Taaleri Energia held the inauguration ceremony for the 154 MW Č ibuk 2 wind farm in Serbia, jointly creating the largest wind power complex in the Western Balkans. Combined with the operation of Č ibuk 1 in 2019, the total installed capacity of the two projects is 312 megawatts, with foreign direct investment exceeding 500 million euros.
Project Overview
Č ibuk 2 is located in the South Banat region northeast of Belgrade, adjacent to the 158 MW Č ibuk 1, situated between two villages in the town of Covin - the local wind resources are among the top in the country. The combined power generation of the two projects can meet the annual electricity demand of approximately 178800 households.

The project completed financing closure two years ago and has signed a power purchase agreement with the state-owned power company EPS. UniCredit and Erste provided financing, while Nordex supplied wind turbines. This project is one of the winning bids in Serbia's first wind power auction. Keywords: Serbia, wind power, energy

Masdar stated that the power station will provide long-term local clean electricity supply, reducing the risk of fuel price fluctuations. Currently, it has over 200 MW of photovoltaic, wind power, and energy storage projects under development in Serbia. The Serbian Minister of Energy stated that the two stations together account for approximately 25% of the total installed capacity of wind and solar power in the country.
