The long whistle of the train cuts through the thin mist of the morning in southeastern Shanxi, and the first train loaded with hundreds of containers and over 3000 tons of coal slowly enters the Changzhi Land Port International Logistics Park.

The direct coal freight train from Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and Mongolia provinces has officially opened, marking the complete breakthrough of the single supply shortage of local coal resources in Changzhi Land Port, and the opening of a cross regional energy logistics channel spanning the Northwest Fourth Railway Bureau.

As of mid September 2026, the park has completed the expansion and renovation of the first three dedicated storage yards, which can simultaneously accommodate over 120000 tons of different types of coal storage and turnover.

Five provinces and regions have opened up direct coal transportation channels

The upstream radiation range of the train covers Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia, and the starting stations are connected to the core coal production areas under the jurisdiction of Xi'an Bureau, Lanzhou Bureau, Urumqi Bureau, and Hohhot Bureau. With the normalization of train operation, the density of coal trains from other provinces to the park will increase to 3 to 4 trains per week, and the annual coal scale to the park can exceed 2 million tons, greatly improving the organization and scale of cross regional coal transportation.

On site processing to reconstruct the supply pattern

After the arrival of different types of coal in the park, storage, screening, precise blending, and deep fine processing will be carried out locally. This model can expand the regional coal supply category from the original 3 categories to 11 categories, accurately match the customized coal demand of different industries such as downstream power, metallurgy and chemical industry, and significantly reduce the market impact brought by the fluctuation of single coal supply.

In the future, Changzhi Land Port will continue to improve the integrated service system of coal distribution, blending processing, warehousing and logistics, and build a stable transit hub for energy supply in southern Shanxi. Keywords: Changzhi Land Port, Coal Direct Train
