According to State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd., as of now, the three major "West East Power Transmission" ultra-high voltage direct current transmission projects of ± 800 kV Lingzhou Shaoxing (Lingshao), Xiluodu Zhejiang (Binjin), and Baihetan Zhejiang (Jintang) have transmitted over 900 billion kilowatt hours of electricity to Zhejiang.
According to the national average of 3086 kilowatt hours per household by 2025, 900 billion kilowatt hours of electricity can meet the annual electricity consumption of about 292 million households, equivalent to more than half of the total annual electricity consumption of households in China, providing solid infrastructure support for cross provincial and cross regional resource optimization allocation and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

About one-third of the electricity generated in Zhejiang Province each year relies on imports from outside the province. During this year's peak summer season, the highest electricity load in Zhejiang Province reached 136 million kilowatts, setting a new historical high. The three major ultra-high voltage projects are the backbone of inter provincial power mutual assistance and smooth summer weather, "said the person in charge of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power. During the critical stage of peak summer season this year, the Lingshao ultra-high voltage direct current project continued to operate at full power for 26 days, accurately delivering power resources from the Ningxia energy base thousands of miles away to the East China load center, effectively playing the role of the energy artery's peak support.
At the same time, the deep application of new technologies such as digital twins and artificial intelligence has promoted the transformation of equipment operation and maintenance from "people looking for data" to "data looking for people", effectively ensuring the safe and stable operation of ultra-high voltage channels under long-term and high load conditions.
It is reported that the construction of the fourth ultra-high voltage channel into Zhejiang, the Gansu Zhejiang ± 800 kV high-voltage direct current transmission project, is currently accelerating. After the completion and operation of this project, it can transmit over 36 billion kilowatt hours of electricity to Zhejiang every year, of which new energy accounts for more than 50%. It can replace 6.4 million tons of coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 17 million tons annually, which will help promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the Yangtze River Delta region.Editor/Yang Meiling
