As Europe's energy transition enters the era of deep sea, a wind farm without subsidies and relying on market orders has become a new coordinate for Germany to move towards zero carbon industry. He Dreiht uses 64 large capacity wind turbines to split through the North Sea winds and waves, directly delivering offshore green power into the carbon neutrality map of multinational corporations.
Basic Overview of the Project
Recently, significant engineering achievements have been made in the North Sea region of Germany. The country's largest offshore wind farm, He Dreiht, has been officially completed and will soon be fully operational.

The He Dreiht wind farm is located approximately 85 kilometers northwest of Borkum Island, with a total installed capacity of 960 megawatts. The project is owned by EnBW with 50.1% of the shares, and a consortium consisting of Allianz Capital Partners, AIP Management, and Norwegian Bank holds the remaining 49.9% equity, with an overall investment amount of approximately 2.4 billion euros.
Efficient implementation of the project
During the construction phase, the project started single pile foundation construction in May 2024 and completed the burial of all 64 single piles in August 2024 in just three months. The lifting of wind turbines has also progressed rapidly: the first unit was lifted into position in April 2025, marking the first commercial landing of the Vestas V236-15.0 MW model in global offshore wind power projects and a crucial step towards the commercialization of large capacity wind turbines. By August 2025, all 64 15 MW wind turbines will be lifted and installed.

The current project has been connected to the German power grid and is being debugged in batches. It is expected to achieve full capacity production within a few months. The power consumption model of this project is of great reference value, and the entire power generation has been locked in advance through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). The purchasing companies include Winco, Google, Bosch, Deutsche Bahn DHL、 Salzgitt and other leading enterprises in the fields of chemical, technology, logistics, steel, and transportation. The diversified PPA combination ensures stable project returns and provides an excellent example for the green energy consumption of offshore wind power in Europe. Industry reference significance
The completion of the He Dreiht project is an important milestone in the development of offshore wind power in Germany, and also confirms that 15 megawatt class large capacity wind turbines have mature commercial conditions. The Vestas V236-15.0 MW model is connected to the grid in batches, continuously testing the economy and reliability of ultra large single machines in deep and offshore scenarios. At the same time, the project relies on PPA to connect with multiple multinational enterprises, once again proving that purchasing green electricity is an important means for enterprises to achieve carbon neutrality goals. This model of locking in electricity orders before the wind farm is put into operation can serve as a reference for domestic offshore wind power projects.Editor/Gong Ziwei
