Under the golden sand waves of the Taklamakan Desert, another batch of oil and gas surged to the surface through ultra deep well pipelines at a depth of 6000 meters. The largest desert oilfield in China, the Hade Fuman oilfield, has cumulatively extracted over 26 million tons of oil and gas from ultra deep layers. This underground space, once considered an exploration forbidden zone, is continuously producing stable energy supply.

Continuous breakthroughs in ultra deep mining capabilities

The Hade Fuman oilfield has currently drilled 485 ultra deep wells, and the average completion cycle of the main production areas has been compressed to less than 110 days. The drilling speed has increased by more than 30% compared to two years ago. The proven oil and gas reserves of ultra deep formations more than 6000 meters deep in the Tarim Basin have exceeded 5 billion tons, accounting for more than half of the total proven reserves of the basin. It is the core main area for increasing oil and gas reserves and production in China.

Previously, the oilfield had completed drilling the deepest oil and gas horizontal well in Asia at 9396m underground, successfully obtained the complete core about 500 million years ago at a depth of 8080m, completed the first coring operation at a depth of more than 8000m in the northwest edge of the Tarim Basin, and constantly refreshed the technical boundary of global ultra deep oil and gas exploitation.

Stable and upward production of golden light crude oil

The crude oil extracted from a depth of 8000 meters underground presents a honey like golden yellow color. This type of light crude oil has a high proportion of light components and low content of gelatinous asphaltene, making it a premium raw material for refining and has always been in high demand in the global oil market. Since 2026, a total of 25 ultra deep wells have been put into operation in the oilfield, and the newly built ultra deep oil and gas production capacity exceeds 300000 tons. The annual oil and gas equivalent production is expected to remain above 4.6 million tons. Keywords: ultra deep oil and gas extraction, petroleum

The current oil field is continuously advancing the research and development of ultra deep exploration and development technology, gradually cultivating new billion ton ultra deep reserve areas. This modern intelligent ultra deep oil field rooted in the desert hinterland is building a more stable deep support for the national energy security barrier.Editor/Cheng Liting
