Recently, on the Gobi Desert around the Tachakou Interchange, which is about 30 kilometers southwest of Karamay District, Karamay City, tower cranes stood in a forest and machinery roared. PetroChina's Phase II project of the 4 million kilowatt photovoltaic project of Xinjiang Oilfield, the largest single centralized photovoltaic power station in Xinjiang, is grasping the golden period of construction, and the project has entered the final stage.

The four million ton project will be promoted in two phases

As an important component of Xinjiang Oilfield's new energy and supporting coal-fired power and carbon capture integration projects, the 4 million kilowatt photovoltaic project of Xinjiang Oilfield is an important self regulating new energy demonstration project in northern Xinjiang, which will be constructed in two phases. Among them, the first phase of the 2.64 million kilowatt project will start construction in the summer of 2024 and be successfully completed by the end of 2025, achieving the full installation of photovoltaic brackets, photovoltaic modules, and supporting power transmission and transformation projects, and successfully completing the phased construction goals. The second phase of the 1.36 million kilowatt project will resume construction in the spring of 2026, and according to the annual construction plan, it will be fully completed within 2026.

The second phase of the final construction is being carried out in an orderly manner

At present, the installation of photovoltaic brackets and photovoltaic module bodies in the second phase project has been basically completed, and various finishing operations on the construction site have been carried out in an orderly manner. The excavation of trenches and the laying of cables are steadily progressing, and construction personnel are fully committed to laying power cables; In the installation area of box type transformers and inverters, staff carry out wiring, testing, and debugging operations one by one; The lifting operation in the booster station work area is being carried out in an orderly manner, and the installation and commissioning of various equipment is progressing at full speed. In the golden autumn of October, large excavators clean up the remaining soil in the foundation pit between prefabricated concrete bases, finely adjust the work site, and spread photovoltaic panels into a blue ocean in the Gobi Desert. Integration of new energy, coal-fired power, and CCUS

After the overall completion of the Xinjiang Oilfield's new energy and supporting coal-fired power and carbon capture integration project, the 4 million kilowatt photovoltaic installed capacity will be deeply integrated with coal-fired power and CCUS carbon capture utilization and storage technology, building a deep peak shaving system of new energy, coal-fired power and CCUS integration. This system can effectively ensure the stability of regional power grid supply, accurately alleviate the pressure of power grid peak regulation, and significantly reduce the total amount of regional carbon emissions. The implementation of the project will accelerate the transformation and upgrading of Karamay from a traditional oil and gas industrial city to a green comprehensive energy base, and continue to enable the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of Xinjiang Oilfield.Editor/Gao Xue
