Underneath the hard granite formation, a domestically produced open type TBM continuously breaks through the rock and excavates, overcoming multiple challenges of high abrasion rocks and fractured zones. This CRCHI self-developed equipment landed in the Pyeongtaek Wusong double track tunnel in South Korea, successfully completing the excavation task. The domestic excavation equipment once again verified the strength of overseas hard rock construction.

Facing the challenge of extremely hard rocks
The surrounding rock of the construction tunnel is mainly composed of high hardness granite gneiss, with a uniaxial compressive strength of up to 207.3 megapascals and a quartz content ranging from 26.6% to 42%. The rock is highly abrasive and difficult to break. There are multiple fractured zones distributed in the construction section, and the stability of the surrounding rock is insufficient, resulting in a prominent risk of collapse and water influx. CRCHI combines on-site geological and underground assembly conditions to complete the customized development of all equipment components. It is equipped with a high-power cutterhead drive heavy-duty wear-resistant rolling cutter strong support propulsion and efficient slag removal system. It adopts a block structure design to enhance the overall reliability, rock breaking ability, and adaptability to underground assembly. Keywords: CRCHI, Open TBM

Escort road network improves efficiency
During the project promotion phase, CRCHI has established an overseas special service team to be stationed on site, implementing a two shift system to ensure equipment operation 24/7. Management personnel have visited the site multiple times to supervise and ensure the smooth progress of excavation construction. After the completion of the Pingze Wusong double track tunnel, it can alleviate the congestion of multiple high-speed railway lines in Jingbu Lake, Hunan, and Shuixi Pingze, open up the bottleneck of rail transit in central South Korea, improve the local transportation network, and enhance the efficiency of regional commuting and freight transportation. This breakthrough marks the successful implementation of domestically produced open TBM in Korean engineering projects, demonstrating China's overseas competitiveness in high-end underground engineering equipment.Editor/Min Jing
