On October 14, 2026, Azerbaijani President Aliyev met with Wang Yi, member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Baku. 

Aliyev stated that the two countries have a high degree of political mutual trust and mutually beneficial economic cooperation, and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Afghanistan and China is flourishing. The consensus reached between me and the President during my visit to China last year has been effectively implemented, pushing bilateral relations into a new stage. The Algerian side thanked China for its long-term strong support for Afghanistan's economic and social development and safeguarding its national interests, and regarded China as a leading force in the rise of the global South. Chinese path to modernization has set an example for developing countries including Afghanistan. Afghanistan is one of the first countries to support and participate in the "the Belt and Road" initiative. A series of cooperation projects between the two countries have yielded fruitful results. Albania is willing to strengthen strategic docking with China, continue to expand cooperation in energy, connectivity and other fields, and welcome more Chinese enterprises to invest and start business in Afghanistan. Make good use of mutual visa exemption to further promote personnel exchanges between the two countries.  

Wang Yi conveyed the sincere greetings of the President to President Aliyev, stating that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China and Afghanistan understand, trust and support each other, and bilateral relations maintain a strong development momentum, showing broad prospects for development. The Chinese side congratulates Afghanistan on the thriving national construction under the leadership of President Aliyev, supports Afghanistan in pursuing a development path that is in line with its national conditions, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with Afghanistan and other parties in the intermediate transportation corridor, continuing to be a reliable long-term strategic partner in Afghanistan's development process. The Chinese side thanks the Afghan side for its strong support on issues related to China's core interests over the long term, and also supports the Afghan side in safeguarding independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. China's development is the strengthening of the power of the global South and the growth of developing countries. China is willing to continue to closely coordinate and cooperate with Afghanistan to safeguard the common interests of countries in the global South. China supports Afghanistan in playing an important role in multilateral platforms such as CICA and international affairs, and making more contributions to regional and global peace and stability.
