Under the waves on the Gold Coast of West Africa, the hard rock layers are being gnawed inch by inch by Chinese island artifacts. At Ganatema Port, the Tiankun stirred up sediment like a deep-sea monster, wedging Chinese dredging forces into the upgrading process of West African logistics hubs and opening up the main artery for regional trade.

Giant Ship Goes to Africa for Construction
The commercial ships in Ganatema Port are engaged in dredging operations here, and China's self-developed heavy-duty suction dredger Tiankun is assisting the port project constructed by China Harbour. Tema Port is the largest port in Ghana and a core logistics hub in West Africa. The growth of trade has forced the port to improve its navigation capacity.

Overcoming Hard Rock Dredging
The total dredging volume of this project is about 2.8 million cubic meters, and after completion, the water depth of the harbor pool can reach 14 meters, greatly improving the port throughput. The construction difficulties are prominent, with over half of the project involving hard weathered rock layers, and the equipment and construction plan facing severe challenges. The Tiankun vessel dynamically adjusts its operational pace to ensure synchronous progress of navigation and construction in the port area. Crew members need to cope with the high temperature environment in the local area, resulting in significant wear and tear on the cutter teeth, and frequent maintenance and replacement of equipment. Empowering West African trade
Local officials stated that the dredging project has strategic value and can accommodate large vessels after completion, benefiting the transportation needs of many countries in West and Central Africa, and driving employment and commercial development. The upgrade of Tema Port is a vivid example of China Canada infrastructure cooperation, continuously injecting momentum into regional economic and trade connectivity.Editor/Gong Ziwei
