Recently, the Huadu-Conghua section of the Guangzhou-Lianzhou Expressway has begun to conduct environmental assessment publicity. The project is scheduled to start construction in October 2020 and be completed and opened to traffic in 2023.

The project starts in Huadong Town, Huadu District, Guangzhou, and connects to the second expressway of Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport. It goes north through Huadong Town, Huadu District, Aotou Town, Conghua District, and finally Wufeng Village, Aotou Town, connecting Guanglian High-speed Conghua to Lianzhou section. The project route has a total length of 18.7 kilometers and adopts two-way six-lane highway standard construction.

According to the relevant person in charge, there are many controlling factors along the project, such as water source protection areas, forest parks, basic farmland, and restricted construction areas in Guangzhou, and the construction is difficult. At the same time, the project traverses the mountainous areas in northern Guangzhou, along the route (passing) Toad Stone Forest Park, Jiulongtan Forest Park, Maodun Lake Forest Park and other scenic spots, which have extremely high environmental requirements. Therefore, the project construction will adopt the most stringent environmental protection measures, such as the use of centralized drainage, sedimentation tanks, centralized waste disposal, installation of sound barriers or ventilation and sound insulation windows and other environmental protection measures to ensure that the impact on the environment is minimized and the highway is realized Harmony with the environment.

It is reported that the Huadu-Conghua section of the Guangzhou-Lianzhou Expressway is the “one ray” of the Guangdong Provincial Expressway Network Planning (that is, the Guangzhou Tianhe-Qingyuan Lianzhou Expressway, which starts from Guangzhou Tianhe, passes through Baiyun, Huadu, and Conghua to Qingyuan Buddha. Gang, Yingde, Yangshan, and Lianzhou (with a total route length of about 292 kilometers) are an important part of Guangzhou’s north exit highway and an important distribution channel for the new Baiyun International Airport. After the Huadu-Conghua Expressway is completed and put into use, it will efficiently connect Guangzhou Conghua, Qingyuan City and the northern area with Baiyun Airport, shorten the travel time of citizens, and meet the urgent needs of Qingyuan, Shaoguan and other places to quickly travel to and from Baiyun Airport.
