On January 22, 2021, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Transportation issued an announcement that the 19th Bureau and the 18th Bureau of China Railway had won two bids for the Dujiangyan to Siguniangshan Mountain Rail Transit Poverty Alleviation Project, with a total bid of about 1.6 billion yuan.

Project details

The mountain rail transit project from Dujiangyan to Siguniang Mountain is a railway that focuses on passenger transportation and takes into account light and fast freight. It has multiple meanings such as tourism, poverty alleviation, and transportation.

The project starts near Dujiangyan Station of Chengguan High-speed Railway, passes through Hongkou, Longchi, Yingxiu, Gengda, Wolong, and ends at Siguniangshan Town, Xiaojin County, Aba Prefecture. The main line of the line is 123.18km long, with 35.4km/25 newly built bridges, which account for 28.74% of the length of the main line. Newly built 85.7km/25 tunnels, accounting for 69.6% of the length of the main line. There are 11 new stations on the whole line (Dujiangyan, Yongfeng, Puyang, Hongkou, Longchi, Yingxiu, Gengda, Wolong, Dengshenggou, Balangshan, Siguniangshan stations), and one vehicle base. Two-track meter track (non-standard gauge) with a maximum design speed of 120km/h and a gauge of 1000mm.

The line is connected to multiple scenic spots and has high-quality natural ecology. The construction of the project will be designed and constructed according to the local topography, so that the train will be integrated with the surrounding environment to form a landscape, which will connect the high-quality tourism resources of western Sichuan to the Chengdu Plain. The combined development of transportation and tourism can greatly promote the income of tourism and service industries along the route, and play a role in poverty alleviation by tourism and transportation.

The project is divided into two bid sections. China Railway 19th Bureau won the DSZQ-5 standard for 714 million yuan, and China Railway 18th Bureau won the DSZQ-6 standard for 878 million yuan. Editor/Peng Xue
