On May 10, 2026, the first concrete for boilers # 1 and # 2 of the State Power Investment Corporation's Green Energy Baicheng 2 × 660000 kW guaranteed supply coal-fired power project was successfully poured, marking the official entry of China's first 600000 kW coal-fired power unit using brown coal medium speed grinding tower furnace technology into the comprehensive high standard construction stage.

This project is a dual key coal-fired power supply project in China and Jilin Province, with a total investment of 5.698 billion yuan. It plans to construct two 660000 kW ultra supercritical brown coal fired power generation units, with a designed annual power generation capacity of over 4 billion kWh, and simultaneously build a smart power plant and fuel intelligent system. According to the plan, two units will be completed and put into operation in 2028, and together with the supporting coal-fired power projects of Baicheng Thermal Power and Jidian entering Beijing, they will form the largest installed thermal power cluster in Jilin Province. By 2025, the installed capacity of thermal power in Jilin Province has exceeded 35 million kilowatts, and the implementation of the Baicheng project will further strengthen the foundation of regional power supply guarantee.

Multiple leading domestic technologies are concentrated and implemented

The project is designed and constructed according to the standards of the new generation of coal-fired power units, achieving the centralized implementation of multiple leading domestic technologies: the first application of high moisture brown coal matched with medium speed coal mill tower boiler technology, the matching of 100% capacity bypass system in domestic 600000 kW level units, and the application of the first batch of high-power intelligent permanent magnet drive small and large grinding solutions, with wide load, high efficiency, and flexible adjustment capabilities. At the same time, the project reserves CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage) and interfaces for biomass and green ammonia co firing in advance, leaving ample space for the low-carbon transformation of coal-fired power.

Key voltage stabilizer for 10 million kilowatt level new energy base

As a landmark project of State Power Investment Corporation in promoting the optimization and upgrading of energy structure in Northeast China, Baicheng Power Supply Coal and Electricity will install key voltage stabilizers for the 10 million kilowatt level new energy base in western Jilin. By 2025, the installed capacity of new energy in Baicheng City has exceeded 12 million kilowatts, and the proportion of wind and solar power generation continues to rise.
