A few days ago, China Civil Engineering and Vanuatu signed a framework agreement on the road upgrade and reconstruction project of Pontecault Island.

Project details and construction significance

The project is located on the northern island of Vanuatu on Pentkaust Island and was constructed by China Civil Engineering. The project is designed in accordance with China's Class 4 highway standards. The main construction content is to upgrade the existing dirt road into a single-lane asphalt double-surface road with a construction period of 3 years.

At the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Rafman said that the ground-breaking ceremony of the highway project was an important milestone and once again witnessed the close friendly relations between the two countries. As the first high-grade highway on Peng Island, the project will greatly improve local infrastructure conditions and people's living standards, promote the economic and social prosperity of Vanuatu, and help Vanuatu achieve a successful transition to a developing country. In the future, the two sides will continue to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in various fields and jointly push bilateral relations to a new level.

Ambassador Zhou Haicheng in Vanuatu said that China-Vanuatu relations have become stronger over time, and the Pengdao highway project is another fruit of the friendly cooperation between the two countries. It will greatly benefit the local people, inject new impetus into the economic recovery of Vanuatu, and promote the sustainable economic and social development of Vanuatu. .
