Recently, at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in Tashkent, the two sides agreed that Uzbekistan will undertake the design and construction of some independent sections of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway.
According to the Kyrgyz Satellite Network, Uzbekistan also intends to consider the issue of co-financing as soon as the project's feasibility study is ready. In 2003, the project proposed its first feasibility study, and all parties are now considering alternative routes to reach the best plan.

The Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan stated that the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway has opened up new markets for the Eurasian Economic Union. The total length of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway is about 523 kilometers, including 213 kilometers in China, 260 kilometers in Kyrgyzstan, and about 50 kilometers in Uzbekistan. The completion of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway will improve the southern passage of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge, form a convenient transportation channel from East Asia and Southeast Asia to Central Asia, West Asia, North Africa and Southern Europe, further broaden the transportation scope of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge, and increase the new Eurasian Continental Bridge Position in international transportation.
