The French company Vinci Energy signed a contract worth 292 million euros with the government of Benin in West Africa to build transmission and distribution infrastructure with financing support from the French authorities. The project lasted 3 years and employed more than 900 employees. In this project, Vinci built 500 kilometers of ultra-high-voltage overhead and underground transmission lines, more than 1,000 kilometers of medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution networks, and connected thousands of households.
Seven UHV substations will also be built and the capacity of four existing high-voltage substations will be expanded.
The local team will be trained by the French and Moroccan subsidiaries of Vinci Energy. The project covers 8 of Benin’s 12 départements and will contribute to the country’s socio-economic development. It supports a number of economic and industrial parks under development, including an airport, an administrative city, a hospital and new residential areas.
Arnaud Grison, Chairman and CEO of Vinci Energies, said: In addition to full mobilization on site to ensure the technical success of the project, we also promise to train 300 young technicians when the project is completed. We are very happy to cooperate with the authorities and local communities in Benin. This will pave the way for a permanent foothold in Benin and support the local economy by creating jobs. This is actually the foundation of our company's development model.Editor/Huang Liju
