On May 27, 2021, the reconstruction project of the Xiangyang section of the 207 National Road was officially started. The project starts at the junction of Hubei and Henan provinces, widens along the existing G207 to Huangji Town and relocates to the north and west, passing through Maji, Niushou Town, Wolong Town, Wuji and Jiuji Towns, and ends at Yicheng Yancheng in the south. It is connected to the existing G207 line with a total length of 96.178 kilometers.

It is understood that the project adopts the first-class highway standard construction, the design speed is 80 km/h, the two-way four-lane and six-lane sections are adopted, and the subgrade width is 25.5 meters and 33 meters. On the whole line, there are 4 places on the high-speed, 3 places on the railway, and 3 places on the railway. There are a total of 50 bridges of 1,1894.5 meters, 4 interchanges, 32 light-controlled level crossings, 2 service areas, 2 maintenance work areas, 2 supervising stations, and 1 main line toll station. The estimated total investment is 6.95 billion yuan, and the construction period is 42 months. It is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in September 2024.

The first reconstruction of the Xiangyang section of National Highway 207 before the rerouting was from 1989 to 1992, when the Changhong Bridge with a total length of 2,152 meters and its wiring were constructed; the second reconstruction was the West Inner Ring (Wolong Avenue) constructed from 2009 to 2013. —Wolong Bridge—Xiangnan Avenue—Wangshugang section, with a total length of 27.036 kilometers; the third reconstruction is the Weiji-Huangji-Huopai-Dengcheng section constructed from 2013 to 2016, with a total length of 35.573 kilometers, realizing the national highway Go around the main road in the northern city. Engineering: infrastructure construction, infrastructure projects, infrastructure projects

The reconstruction project of the Xiangyang section of the 207 National Road is an ordinary highway construction project with the longest construction mileage, the largest investment scale, the highest construction standards, and the most social attention in Xiangyang's history. In particular, the Han River Super Bridge, the main controlling project, in order to protect the ecology of the Han River and the navigation of the Han River, the main bridge adopts a two-hole 330-meter steel box composite girder single-tower cable-stayed bridge. This type of bridge is rare in China and the only one in Hubei.

After the project is completed, it will completely solve the problem of mutual interference between urban internal traffic and transit traffic, effectively resolve the urban blockage of the large passage in the north-south direction of Xiangyang City, improve the capacity of national highways and the overall operating efficiency of the road network, and enhance the regional central city of Xiangyang and the Han River basin The radiant power of the central city is of great significance to promote the integrated development of Xiang (Yang), Yi (City), and South (Zhang).
