Gold lacquer inlays are an important category of traditional Chinese lacquer wares, dating back thousands of years. It is a jewel of glory and grace, reflecting the royal atmosphere and crafts with a strong "Beijing flavor". Beijing Golden Paint inlaid and developed the Ming and Qing court art, forming a simple and elegant, dignified and luxurious Beijing style, unique in China's lacquer garden.

In 1956, 16 hand workshops scattered throughout Beijing jointly established the “Beijing Golden Paint Inlay Factory” in a public-private partnership. This ancient traditional craft was preserved.
