On July 10, 2021, China's first tens of millions of kilowatt-level "wind and solar storage and transmission" multi-energy complementary integrated energy base-Huaneng Longdong Energy Base held a launching ceremony in Qingyang, Gansu.

It is reported that Huaneng Longdong Energy Base takes "three types" and "three modernizations" (base-based clean complementary, intensive digital standardization) as the development path to promote the construction of a new power system with new energy as the main body, and the planned installed capacity exceeds 1,000. 10,000 kilowatts, of which new energy accounts for more than 80%, and comprehensively build a clean-led, multi-energy complementary, 10,000-kilowatt-level green and smart integrated energy base. After the completion of the base, the annual power generation capacity will exceed 28 billion kWh, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 43 million tons per year. It can generate over 100 billion yuan of landed investment, annual tax revenue of 4.6 billion yuan, and create 28,000 jobs. It will better serve the old revolutionary base. Economic and social development will promote the in-depth transformation of Gansu's resource advantages into economic advantages, effectively promote the green and low-carbon development of the eastern provinces, and help the ecological protection of the Yellow River Basin.

Shu Yinbiao, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of China Huaneng, said that China Huaneng, as the largest central power generation company in Gansu, always regards Gansu as a strategic location and development focus. Huaneng Longdong Energy Base is a demonstration project to help achieve the "dual-carbon" strategic goal and build a new power system. It is a model project to realize technological self-reliance and strengthen the independent controllability of the industrial chain. It is to help the old revolutionary area accelerate the development and serve the rural areas. The people's livelihood project of the revitalization strategy is also a green project that facilitates the coordinated development of the east and the west and promotes the optimization and adjustment of the energy structure.

Relying on the construction of the base, China Huaneng will join hands with the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain to carry out joint innovations, focusing on key technologies such as coordinated control of large-scale wind-solar storage integrated power stations, megaton-level CCUS, and high-efficiency photovoltaic power generation.
