On October 31, 2021, as the trial operation of Unit 2 ends, the first batch of Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Shandong Yimeng Pumped-storage Power Station constructed by Energy China Gezhouba Group was officially connected to the grid for power generation, adding 600,000 kilowatts to Shandong Power Grid High-quality peak shaving capabilities have added new impetus to help win the battle to ensure power supply.

Shandong Yimeng Pumped Storage Power Station is located in Feixian County, Linyi City, Shandong Province. The total installed capacity of the project is 1.2 million kilowatts. It is equipped with 4 single-stage mixed flow reversible turbine generators with a single capacity of 300,000 kilowatts, which are large (1) first-class project. Gezhouba Group is mainly responsible for the civil construction and metal structure installation of the upper reservoir of the project, including asphalt concrete face rockfill dam, reservoir area anti-seepage, reservoir basin drainage system, reservoir area excavation, 5# Yakou auxiliary dam and slope protection, etc.

The normal storage level of the upper reservoir has a designed storage capacity of 8.56 million cubic meters. The retaining dam is an asphalt concrete face rockfill dam with a maximum height of 117.4 meters and a dam crest axis length of 608 meters. During the construction period, the project department successively overcome difficulties such as tight schedule, new crown epidemic, extreme weather, design changes, and asphalt concrete mix test. It took 47 months to successfully complete the dam foundation excavation, reservoir basin excavation, dam filling, and shaft Major node targets such as construction, asphalt concrete panels, water storage acceptance, and the commissioning of unit 1 for power generation.

Especially in the construction of asphalt concrete face rockfill dam, the project department overcame major technical difficulties and innovated the use of gneiss acid aggregate asphalt concrete anti-seepage slab, which was the first use in the country. The application technology has reached the international leading level, and also created a precedent for the application of acid aggregate asphalt concrete in the water conservancy and hydropower industry, and opened up a new path for the selection of asphalt concrete aggregate in the hydropower industry.

At the moment when the country’s power supply guarantees a critical period, the Yimeng Pumped-storage Power Station is officially connected to the grid and put into operation, participating in the power grid protection work, giving full play to functions such as peak shaving, energy storage, and output power, so as to provide safe operation and reliable power supply for Shandong power grid. Provides a strong guarantee. This is also an important measure for Gezhouba Group to deeply implement the national strategy, actively serve the "carbon peak and carbon neutral", and help achieve the "3060" target.

According to the plan, in June 2022, all four units of the Yimeng Pumped Storage Power Station will be put into operation for power generation. By then, it will save 88,200 tons of standard coal each year, reduce 296,700 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and 2,000 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions, which will play a positive role in enhancing grid regulation capabilities, boosting energy transformation, and achieving carbon peak carbon neutrality goals.
