On December 5, 2022 local time, the facility handover and opening ceremony was held for the reconstruction project of Manta International Airport in Ecuador, financed by the Export Import Bank of China and contracted by the China Road and Bridge Joint Venture. President Guillermo Lasso of Ecuador attended the ceremony and cut the ribbon for the opening of the airport. Chen Guoyou, Chinese Ambassador to Ecuador, Ereira, Minister of Transport and Public Works of Ecuador, members of the Ecuadorian government such as the Ecuadorian Civil Aviation Administration and Manta City, and representatives of some airlines attended the ceremony.

The Manta International Airport Project is located in Manta, a coastal city in the Pacific Ocean of Ecuador. The main works include the new airport terminal, the reconstruction of control tower, the renovation of apron, the maintenance of airport runway and the reconstruction of APP center. The total building area of the terminal and airport control tower is 8236 square meters, the apron is 26390 square meters, the parking lot is 11800 square meters, and the runway maintenance is 168000 square meters. The completion of the project will further improve the infrastructure level of Manta as the largest city in the coastal area of Ecuador, which is conducive to promoting the connectivity between the city and other countries in the region and boosting the economic development of the coastal area as a whole.Editor/Ma Xue
