On March 30, 2023, with the whistle of several construction machinery and equipment, the construction of the S11 line project was officially launched at Deyang North Station. According to reports, this is the third urban (suburban) railway that Sichuan has started construction after Chengzi S3 Line and Chengmei S5 Line.

S11 line project

It is understood that Line S11 starts from Weijianian Station of Chengdu Rail Transit Line 1 and ends at Deyang North Station in Deyang City. The investment is about 30.5 billion yuan. The total length of the line is about 70.87 kilometers, including about 30.62 kilometers in Chengdu and 40.25 kilometers in Deyang, of which the underground section is about 23.78 kilometers long, the elevated section is about 45.39 kilometers long, and the roadbed section is about 1.70 kilometers long.

A total of 15 stations are set up on the whole line, including 5 elevated stations, 10 underground stations, and 1 Deyang North Depot and Fenghuangshan parking lot. The line will be operated by 4 city-area A-type vehicles, with a design operating speed of 160 km/h for the elevated section and 120 km/h for the underground section. The project construction period is expected to be about 49 months.

Line S11 is an important project in the backbone commuting network of Chengde, Meizi and Zicheng with 2 rings and 3 radiations. It is an important link supporting the integrated development of Chengde and Germany, and it is also an important part of building a metropolitan area on the track. After the completion of the project, it will effectively shorten the space-time distance between Chengdu and Deyang, which will not only facilitate the travel of citizens in the two places, but also promote the efficient concentration, deep integration and innovative development of the industries, population and various production factors of the two places, and promote the further integration of Deyang into Chengdu. The economic circle allows the transportation circle to be practically expanded and upgraded to the level of the economic circle, amplifying the effect of the development circle.

It is worth mentioning that this line will be connected to Metro Line 18 to Tianfu International Airport, and can be transferred to S3 and S5 lines through the Chengdu rail transit network to reach Ziyang and Meishan, which will help improve the core energy level of the Chengdu metropolitan area. It is of great significance to promote the construction of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing area and the integration of Chengde, Meizi and capital into one city.
