On April 4, 2023, the opening and resumption ceremony of key transportation projects in the province in 2023, including the G0612 Xining-Hetian Expressway Huangyuan-Xihai Highway, was held in Xihai Town, Haiyan County.

Huangyuan-Xihai Highway Project

According to reports, the G0612 Xining-Hetian Expressway Huangyuan-Xihai Highway Project has a total length of 50.7 kilometers and a budgeted investment of 5.66 billion yuan. The entire line adopts the standard construction of a two-way four-lane expressway with a roadbed width of 26 meters. The preliminary design of the project will be completed in November 2022, the land acquisition and demolition work will be fully carried out in December, and the bidding work will be completed in January 2023. After the joint efforts of many parties, the construction was finally realized.

Huangxi Expressway is an important section of the national expressway G0612 from Xining to Hotan Expressway. It is a key project of the 14th Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of Transport and a fast land channel leading to land ports in Central and South Asian countries and entering Xinjiang. The construction of the project is of great significance to accelerate the integration of Haibei Prefecture into the Xining one-hour economic circle.
