The Japanese government plans to provide 47 billion yen in loans to build Burma's main railway line and hopes to create an environment conducive to Japanese companies' presence in the country.
The ministry of planning, finance and industry is constructing the first phase of the yangon-mandalay railway, the 166-km yangon-tongoo section; The 219-kilometer rangoon-mandalay railway phase ii, which connects toungoo to mandalay, will be completed with a loan from the Japan international cooperation organization (jic) and state funds.
Myanmar railway corporation has signed an agreement with the consultancy services construction company to develop the second phase of the yangon-mandalay railway. According to MTRC, it is currently constructing a section of the rangoon-mandalay railway between Rangoon, burgoo and Rangoon ring railways. Between Rangoon and naypyidaw, six express trains, two mail trains and four downstream trains operate daily. When the upgrade of the entire rangoon-mandalay railway is completed, the trains will be able to run at speeds of up to 100 km/h and will be equipped with fully air-conditioned carriages.
The upgrading of the tengoyu-mandalay railway has been under construction since 2019 and is expected to be completed in 2023. Upgrading of the rangoon-tongoo railway will begin in 2022.
Myanmar is located at the crossroads of China, India and asean. All countries have been committed to strengthening their relations with myanmar.
