Spanish oil giant Repsol has started generating electricity from the 204MW solar photovoltaic project Sigma in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. The project consists of five solar power plants, and Repsol has invested 150 million euros in the facility. This is the third solar project operated by the company in Spain, and the other two projects are located in Badajos, near Portugal, with a 264MW power plant; And the 126.6MW project located in the central region of Castile La Mancha in the city of Raal, which has been in operation since 2021.

Through this latest project, the company currently has 2GW of renewable energy and hydropower installed capacity in Spain, with the goal of reaching 6GW of installed capacity by 2025. In 2023, Repsol obtained € 575 million from the European Investment Bank to launch 1.1GW of renewable energy in Spain.
In order to help the oil company achieve its goals, tracker manufacturer Soltec signed an agreement in December to provide 300MW photovoltaic trackers for Repsol's solar projects across the country.
