In the land known as the Sunshine State of Pio í, Brazil, sunlight is no longer a fleeting energy, but a treasure that can be locked in and released at night.

Recently, CGN Brazil signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the government of Pio í state to build Brazil's first commercial demonstration project for concentrated solar energy equipped with molten salt thermal storage technology. This is not only a technological leap, but also a revolution in energy time management - it allows the sun's light to transcend day and night, providing a continuous heartbeat of up to 20 hours for the power grid.

Unlike the intermittent nature of traditional photovoltaics, this project utilizes mirrors to focus thermal energy and stores it through a molten salt thermal storage system, achieving "dispatchable" power output. This characteristic makes it a strong anchor for ensuring the safety of the power grid in the context of a high proportion of renewable energy integration. As the first move in China General Nuclear Power's grand blueprint in the local area, behind this 100MW demonstration project is a multi energy complementary base with an installed capacity of over 1400MW and an investment of over 3 billion Brazilian reals. In the future, a clean energy cluster that deeply integrates photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, and energy storage will be formed here, fully activating the unique light resources of Pioi state.

The deep logic of this cooperation lies in the perfect complementarity between China and Pakistan in green development. Although Pioi State already has 99% of renewable energy, it urgently needs long-term energy storage technology to stabilize its supply; Chinese enterprises not only bring mature molten salt thermal storage solutions, but also provide technological confidence in the industrialization process. As stated by the United Nations Development Programme, this is not only the transmission of electricity, but also the improvement of local industrialization and quality of life. Based on this, CGN will also establish the China Pakistan Clean Energy Innovation Center, making technological exchanges a new link in cooperation between the two countries. When molten salt stores the scorching noon sun in the pipeline and releases light and heat under the Milky Way, this demonstration project is no longer just a power station, but a lighthouse. It illuminates the path of energy transformation in northeastern Brazil and witnesses the firm partnership between China and Pakistan in addressing the challenges of climate change.Editor/Cheng Liting
