At 11:08 am on January 11, 2023, as the last grid connected wind turbine began to rotate on the Gobi Desert, the Gansu Jiuquan Zhejiang New Energy Subei Mazongshan 300 MW wind power project achieved full capacity grid connected power generation, which is also the largest onshore wind power installed by Zhejiang Provincial State owned Enterprise Zhejiang Energy Group.

It is reported that the Jiuquan Mazongshan wind power project is jointly invested and constructed by Zhejiang Xinneng, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Energy Group, and Riyue Co., Ltd. It has a total installed capacity of 300 megawatts and is equipped with 48 wind turbines. After the project is completed, it is expected to generate over 1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which can meet the annual electricity consumption of about 400000 households of three and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 850000 tons.

With the rapid growth of electricity consumption demand in the whole society, the demand for new energy also increases accordingly. "This project plays an important role in improving the energy structure of Gansu region and promoting economic and social development. It is a vivid reflection of the deepening of cooperation between the East and the West, as well as the complementary integration of industrial and economic sectors." The relevant person in charge of the project said.
During the construction period, the project company overcame difficulties such as drilling and crossing 79 points of the 330 kV collection line, freezing at minus 26 degrees Celsius, extreme weather conditions such as wind, snow, and sandstorms, and carried out various tasks such as wind turbine foundation pouring, wind turbine hoisting, and line laying, successfully achieving the goal of full capacity grid connection.
