On March 18, 2024, at the Yangpu Offshore Wind Power Industrial Park project site, workers were working in an orderly manner, with machinery roaring and workers busy with building factories and installing equipment.

It is understood that the Yangpu Offshore Wind Power Industrial Park project covers an area of 220 acres and is led by Hainan Yangpu Offshore Wind Power Industry Development Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Datang Hainan Energy Development Co., Ltd. and Dongfang Electric Wind Power Co., Ltd. The plan is to create and ultimately form an international first-class wind power equipment manufacturing and zero carbon demonstration industrial park.

The project is divided into three phases of construction: the first phase plans to build a 500000 kilowatt wind turbine main plant and supporting facilities. The project started construction in April 2023 and is expected to start trial production in March 2024. It is expected to reach full production in April and generate an output value of about 1.5 billion yuan that year; The second phase of the project plans to introduce domestic mainstream offshore basic steel structure manufacturing enterprises such as tower structures through investment attraction, with an annual production capacity of 50000 tons of offshore wind power supporting tower structures; The third phase of the project aims to build a zero carbon industrial park, integrating wind, solar energy storage, and hydrogen production, with zero carbon emissions, to achieve green and intelligent energy management in the park.

As of now, the progress of the main construction of the first phase of the project has exceeded 60%. The main steel structure, roof, and wall secondary steel structures of the main plant have been installed. Except for the reserved openings for the gantry crane, the rest have been capped, 70% of the wall panels have been completed, 50% of the ground has been hardened, and the installation of the power bridge has been completed. The 150 ton gantry crane has entered the site for installation. The main structure of the distribution room has been completed.

It is reported that as a billion dollar offshore wind power industry cluster base for the layout of Hainan Free Trade Port, Yangpu Offshore Wind Power Industrial Park will rely on the advantages of central enterprises in the energy field in terms of funding, manufacturing, and sales chain, leverage the policy dividends of the free trade port to promote the development of the entire offshore wind power industry chain in Danzhou Yangpu, accelerate the construction of a new power system with new energy as the main body of the free trade port, and assist in the construction of Hainan Clean Energy Island.
