From March 14 to 16, 2024, a high-profile meeting was held in Shijiazhuang, which is the review meeting of the feasibility study report of Hebei Lingshou Pumped storage Power Station. The convening of this meeting marks a solid step in the construction of Hebei Lingshou pumped storage power Station, which is of great significance for promoting the transformation and sustainable development of energy structure in Hebei province and even the whole country.

The power station is located in Lingshou County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, with a superior geographical position and a linear distance of about 70 kilometers from Shijiazhuang city. The construction of the power station will make full use of the local abundant hydropower resources, and realize the storage and regulation of electric energy through pumped storage, which provides a strong guarantee for the stable operation of the power system.

As the core part of the power station, the hub project mainly consists of the upper reservoir, the lower reservoir, the water transmission system, the underground powerhouse and the ground switch station. The upper reservoir is located at the head of Qiyougou Ditch on the right bank branch of Cihe River in the Daqing River system, and the lower reservoir is located downstream of Shaling Ditch on the right bank branch of Cihe River. The layout and design of these buildings fully take into account factors such as topography, hydrological conditions and environmental protection to ensure the safety and reliability of the power station.

It is worth mentioning that Lingshou pumped storage power station is a key implementation project during the "14th Five-Year Plan" in the "Medium and long-term Pumped Storage Development Plan (2021-2035)". The installed capacity of the power station is up to 1400MW, the rated water head is 605 meters, and the height ratio is about 5.3. These data not only highlight the scale and strength of the power station, but also reflect its important position and role in the power system.

After the completion of the power station, it will undertake the tasks of peak load balancing, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency backup of the power system. During the peak hours of power demand, the power station can quickly release the stored electric energy to meet the demand of the power system. During the low demand period, the power station can use the excess energy for pumped storage to realize the storage of electric energy. In addition, the power station can also participate in the frequency and phase modulation of the power system to improve the stability and security of the power system.
