In ancient Chinese wisdom, there is a proverb that goes, "If you want to be rich, build roads first." This sentence simply and profoundly reveals the importance of infrastructure construction for regional and even national economic development. Today, this concept has gone beyond national borders and is being practiced and promoted globally through the Belt and Road Initiative. Jamaica, the beautiful island nation in the Caribbean, is where this idea is brought to life. The China-undertaken project to upgrade Jamaica's Southern Coastal Road will not only improve local traffic conditions, but also help Jamaica achieve comprehensive economic and social development.

In a recent interview, H.E. Arthur Williams, Jamaican Ambassador to China, gave a detailed account of the China-undertaken project to upgrade Jamaica's southern coastal Road. He said with passion that the transformation of this road will inject new vitality into this part of Jamaica, which has been slightly sleepy for a long time, and make it a transportation artery, which will drive the economic and social development of the entire region.

This road of upgrading and transformation not only means the connection of physical space, but also symbolizes the integration of the hearts and cultures of the two peoples. With the smooth flow of roads, the originally unknown areas will gradually become prosperous, and people's living standards will be significantly improved. This is not only the best interpretation of the ancient wisdom that "if you want to be rich, build roads first", but also a vivid manifestation of the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Spain.

In addition, the project will also become a new starting point for cooperation between China and Spain. In the future, the two sides will continue to carry out in-depth cooperation in many fields such as infrastructure construction, trade exchanges and cultural exchanges, and jointly push bilateral relations to a higher level. The Jamaican people extend a warm welcome to their Chinese friends and look forward to opening a new chapter in the common prosperity of the two countries through this project. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
