Pakistan and Afghanistan engaged in intense fighting in the border area on the evening of the 26th. Pakistan claims to have killed 36 Afghan militants, while Afghanistan claims to have killed 55 Pakistani soldiers. On the early morning of the 27th, the Palestinian side launched airstrikes and the conflict continued.

On the evening of the 26th, Afghan government spokesperson Mujahid posted on social media that in response to the Pakistani military's "provocation", the Afghan government has attacked military facilities in the border areas of Pakistan. As of 10:00 pm that evening, the Afghan army had seized 15 military outposts from the Palestinian side.

On the night of the 26th, the Afghan Ministry of Defense announced that the military operation carried out by the Afghan side in the border area between the two countries has killed 55 Pakistani soldiers.

The Pakistani Ministry of News and Broadcasting issued a statement on the 26th stating that the Afghan side "misjudged the situation" and launched "baseless" shelling at multiple locations in the border area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan. The Pakistani side immediately responded effectively, and Afghan armed personnel were hit in multiple locations. Preliminary reports indicate that the Afghan side suffered heavy casualties, with multiple outposts and equipment destroyed.

On the early morning of the 27th, Pakistani Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar, posted on social media that at least 36 Afghan armed personnel have been killed and 2 Pakistani security personnel have died in the ongoing border conflict.

According to Afghan media reports, the provinces of Khost, Kunar, and Nangarhar in eastern Afghanistan, which border Pakistan, have been experiencing intermittent fighting in recent days.

Since October last year, there have been multiple clashes in the border areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan. On October 19 last year, under the mediation of Qatar and Türkiye, the two sides agreed to a ceasefire. Since then, several rounds of talks have been held in Doha, Istanbul and Riyadh to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire, but no results have been achieved.
