Seawater hydrogen production project launched in Shenzhen

Recently, the national key research and development plan "Hydrogen energy technology" key special project "Megawatt level anti-fluctuation direct electrolytic seawater hydrogen production key technology research and equipment integrated application" project kick-off meeting and implementation plan review meeting was held in Shenzhen. This project is the first common technology project of direct electrolytic seawater hydrogen production initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology, which is of great significance to promote the technological innovation in the field of offshore new energy in China.

The project is led by the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen. It is jointly undertaken by Southwest Petroleum University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, Research Institute of Engineering Technology, CNOOC Zhanjiang West South China Sea Petroleum Exploration and Design Co., LTD., National Oceanographic Technology Center and Aerospace Science and Industry Inertia Technology Co., LTD.

The project review experts include Academician Zou Caineng, chief expert of CNPC New energy (Group leader), Academician Li Can, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Luo Jingli of Shenzhen University, Professor Jiang Lijun, Chief Scientist of Youyan Science and Technology Group, Vice President Gao Invention of Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Professor Wang Shuangyin of Hunan University, Professor Gao Xingmin of University of Science and Technology of China, Professor Sun Xiaoming of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Professor Sun Xiaoyan of Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Process, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

At the meeting, Professor Tang Junlei, the project leader, reported the overall implementation plan of the project to the experts on behalf of the project team. Professor Lu Zhiyi from Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Wu Liang from University of Science and Technology of China, Chief Li Zhichuan from Zhanjiang West South China Sea Petroleum Exploration and Design Co., LTD., CNOOC, Cui Lin, deputy director of Marine Energy Development Center under the National Oceanographic Technology Center and other project leaders reported the project implementation plan respectively. The expert group fully demonstrated the implementation plan, affirmed the rationality and feasibility of the project technical route and implementation plan, and put forward constructive opinions and suggestions.

Zan Cheng, vice president of the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen, attended the meeting and gave a welcome speech, and related leaders of hydrogen energy industry in Ningxia Ningdong National Chemical Base participated in the meeting for technical research.

The successful holding of this launch meeting marks the formal and comprehensive launch of the research work of the "Megawatt level anti-fluctuation direct electrolysis of seawater hydrogen production key technology research and equipment integrated application" project. The research work of the project will enhance the design and research and development capability of China's direct electrolytic seawater hydrogen production equipment, expand the global leading advantage, lead the development of global offshore renewable energy and hydrogen energy industry, and provide technical support for promoting the rapid development of China's large-scale green hydrogen production industry and the realization of the dual-carbon goal.
