In the wave of green energy transformation, a new benchmark project has emerged on the coast of the South China Sea. With a total investment of 11.09 billion yuan, the Baowu Qingneng Green Hydrogen Industrial Park was officially launched in Yangjiang, Guangdong, and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area is about to welcome its largest green hydrogen energy industry base. This is not only the landing of a project, but also the beginning of an industrial revolution driven directly by offshore wind power, connecting the entire chain of production, storage, transmission, and utilization.

Offshore wind power, a new chapter in direct hydrogen production
The core innovation of the project lies in the country's first "offshore wind power direct hydrogen production" model. It will rely on the supporting 1.5 GW offshore wind power project to directly produce "green hydrogen" from "green electricity" without the need for grid conversion, ensuring the zero carbon nature of hydrogen energy from the source. This model will build a green hydrogen production base with an annual output of 80000 tons, and simultaneously plan green ammonia, green alcohols and other derivatives production lines, provide green raw materials and fuels for chemical industry, transportation and other fields, and fundamentally integrate the renewable energy and hydrogen energy industry chain.
Self owned equipment, building the solid foundation of the industry
To support the scale and autonomy of the hydrogen energy industry, the project has established two major production bases for high-end hydrogen production equipment and new hydrogen storage materials. The equipment base is committed to researching and developing ultra-low cost and long-life non precious metal catalytic hydrogen production technology, with the goal of reducing the electricity consumption per standard cubic meter of hydrogen to below 3.9 kilowatt hours, reaching the international advanced level, and becoming a key force for independent and controllable hydrogen energy equipment in the country. At the same time, the largest solid-state hydrogen storage material base in South China will explore high-performance materials such as magnesium, sodium, and aluminum to solve industry challenges in hydrogen safety, efficient storage, and transportation. Its products will radiate to the national and even international markets.

Pipeline network, connecting hydrogen arteries in the Greater Bay Area
To deliver the green hydrogen produced in Yangjiang to demand terminals, the project has planned a comprehensive hydrogen transmission pipeline network system. Starting from Yangjiang, three hydrogen transmission pipelines will be constructed leading to Zhanjiang, the core area of the Pearl River Delta, and even Hong Kong. This network can not only directly supply green hydrogen energy to large enterprises such as Zhanjiang Iron and Steel, helping them achieve deep decarbonization, but also efficiently radiate the entire Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area market, injecting green power into urban transportation, distributed energy and other application scenarios, especially providing stable clean energy support for the construction of hydrogen energy cities in Hong Kong.
