On May 10th, China Civil Engineering Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation, signed an agreement with the government of Oromia Oblast in Ethiopia to cooperate in the construction and development of the Lemei Free Trade Zone within the Gada Special Economic Zone.
Both parties signed an agreement at the launch ceremony of the Jakarta Special Economic Zone held on the same day. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi said at the ceremony that the Le Mei Free Trade Zone is the second free trade zone in Ethiopia after the Dredawa Free Trade Zone. After completion, it will provide employment opportunities for the rapidly growing young population and also attract foreign direct investment, bringing opportunities to promote Ethiopia's economic growth.
