"China has accumulated rich experience in the field of new energy and is at the world's leading level. We look forward to China's new energy technologies playing a greater role in the reconstruction of Syria's power facilities." Syrian Electricity Minister Ghassan Zamal recently told reporters in an interview in the capital Damascus.
Zamal said that in the fields of renewable energy power generation and new energy vehicles, Chinese companies are leading the world in both technology and manufacturing level. He looked forward to more Chinese new energy technologies to help the country cope with the current serious power and energy crisis.
Zamal said that Syria's electricity and energy sector has been blocked by the West, and the power supply time has been seriously reduced, and people in some areas can only get about two hours of power supply every day. As an important pillar of the modern economy and society, the shortage of electricity supply has seriously affected the reconstruction and humanitarian work in Syria.
According to Zamal, the Syrian Ministry of Electricity is working hard to promote the new energy generation strategy, proposed to introduce 2,500 megawatts of solar energy and 1,500 megawatts of wind power projects by 2030, and has now achieved 100 megawatts of solar power connected to the grid.
At present, the world economy, including the Middle East region, is facing multiple challenges. Zamal said that the steady and healthy development of China's economy, especially the surging momentum in the field of new energy, will inject more vitality into the world economy and help conflict-affected countries and regions recover their economies at an early date. He expected the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum to be held in Beijing at the end of this month to create more conditions for deepening cooperation between Arab states and China in new energy and other fields to better benefit the people.
Zamal, who has visited China twice and visited a number of Chinese new energy companies on the spot, believes that Chinese new energy companies and their products are widely accepted by the international market. Relevant departments of Syria will provide convenience for Chinese enterprises to invest. "I hope we will soon see Chinese new energy companies participate in Syria's reconstruction and help restore Syria's infrastructure, be it electricity or other sectors." Editor/Wang Tian
