Recently, the Shanghai LNG station line expansion project has reached an important milestone. The Navigation Pile 801 vessel successfully drove the first steel pipe pile to the design elevation, marking the official start of the project. The project is located in the Shenjiawan operating area of Yangshan Deepwater Port in the Shanghai International Shipping Center. It aims to provide Shanghai with a more stable and reliable natural gas supply through the construction of three parts: terminal engineering, receiving station engineering and gas transmission pipeline engineering.
The project plans to build a new 150,000-ton liquefied natural gas dedicated berth with a designed throughput of up to 6 million tons per year. Compared with the first phase of the terminal project, its throughput has doubled. As the core of the entire project, the wharf engineering adopts a unique butterfly-shaped layout, covering key facilities such as the working platform, main approach bridge, torch platform, 6 ship-tying piers and 6 mooring piers. The total construction period of the project is estimated to be 596 days.
Facing many challenges during the construction process, such as complex and dense pile foundations, harsh hydrological conditions in the construction sea area, and tight project deadlines, the Three Harbor Engineering Company project team demonstrated excellent professional capabilities and collaborative spirit. They chose the Hanggong Pile 801, the only fully rotating multi-functional piling ship in China, to ensure the smooth progress of the pile foundation operation. At the same time, by establishing an efficient project management organization and strengthening coordination and cooperation with various teams, the team went all out to build this project into a high-quality, green, and clean benchmark project.
It is reported that the Shanghai LNG station line expansion project has been included in the 14th Five-Year Plan for Energy Development of Shanghai and Zhejiang Province. Once completed, it will significantly improve the safety and reliability of Shanghai’s natural gas supply and ensure the stable operation of residents’ daily lives and the industrial system. This important project will not only provide a solid guarantee for Shanghai's energy security, but also inject new vitality into the sustainable development of the regional economy and society.Editor/Cheng Ting
