On December 1, 2025, the first section of the full design and construction general contracting for the renovation project of the drainage network around rivers and lakes in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone was officially confirmed as the winning bidder. A consortium composed of central enterprises and local leading enterprises in Wuhan successfully won the project, with a bid amount of 4.5 billion yuan. As a key livelihood project in Wuhan Economic Development Zone to enhance water environment governance capabilities and improve urban infrastructure, the launch of the project will lay a solid foundation for creating a safe, resilient, and ecologically livable urban environment in the region.

As an important industrial cluster and densely populated area in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Hannan District) is facing problems such as aging and damage, insufficient pipe diameter, and mixed flow of rainwater and sewage in some drainage networks around rivers and lakes with the acceleration of urbanization. This not only affects the drainage and flood prevention capacity, but also has a certain impact on the regional water environment quality. This renovation project focuses on this core pain point, covering the core industrial park of Wuhan Economic Development Zone, residential areas, and the surrounding areas of river and lake ecological protection zones. The main construction content includes the construction and renovation of drainage pipe networks, optimization of rainwater and sewage diversion systems, upgrading of pumping stations, and construction of supporting drainage facilities along river and lake shorelines.

According to the project plan, the project will construct and renovate a total length of approximately 186 kilometers of various drainage pipe networks, including 92 kilometers of rainwater pipe networks, 78 kilometers of sewage pipe networks, and 16 kilometers of rainwater sewage combined pipe network renovation; Synchronously upgrade and renovate 3 existing drainage pump stations, build 5 integrated lifting pump stations, and construct supporting pipeline network detection, repair, and intelligent water monitoring systems. The project adopts the "full design, construction, and general contracting" model, which ensures the quality and efficiency of the project by coordinating the entire process of design, construction, and operation. The expected construction period is 3 years, and it is planned to be fully completed by the end of 2028.

The winning consortium this time is jointly established by state-owned enterprises China Railway 11th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., China Construction First Bureau Group Second Construction Co., Ltd., and local strong enterprises Wuhan Municipal Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. The consortium relies on the technological advantages and financial strength of central enterprises in large-scale municipal engineering construction, as well as the familiarity of local enterprises with regional geological conditions and construction standards, to form a construction pattern of "strong alliance and complementary advantages".
