According to a recent report by the Bangkok Post, Thailand's Alternative Energy Development Authority (DEDE) has revealed that they are actively pursuing a new tax reduction program for households who choose to install solar panels on their roofs. The plan, which is expected to be formalized by the middle of this year, is designed to provide incentives to reduce household electricity bills and contribute to environmental causes, particularly reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
DEDE specified that any household that buys solar panels for less than 200,000 baht and whose output is less than 10 kilowatts will be eligible for this tax reduction scheme. This threshold is designed to encourage more ordinary households to participate in the use of green energy and enjoy the long-term benefits of clean energy. Regarding the specific amount and method of tax reduction, DEDE said that this will be calculated and decided in detail by the tax bureau based on the actual situation and relevant policies to ensure the fairness and effectiveness of tax reduction policies.

According to DEDE's forecast, from this year to next year, it is expected that 90,000 households will respond to this policy and actively participate in the installation and use of solar panels. The implementation of this plan will not only bring tangible economic benefits to these families, but also have a profound impact on Thailand's energy structure and environmental protection.
To support this plan, the Thai government has set aside a budget of 20.2 billion baht. DEDE hopes that through such incentive policies, 585 million KWH of electricity consumption can be reduced annually, which is of great significance to ease Thailand's energy pressure and promote sustainable development.
In addition, this plan is also expected to promote the development of Thailand's solar energy industry, bringing more business opportunities to related industries, thus further promoting the green transformation of the economy. As more and more households join the program, Thailand's energy mix is expected to gradually shift to a cleaner and more sustainable direction.
Overall, this new tax reduction scheme by DEDE not only provides households with the opportunity to reduce their electricity bills, but also represents a significant step forward in environmental protection and sustainability by the Thai government, which is expected to generate wider social and environmental benefits in the future.
