Vietnam is rewriting the global port competition landscape with a set of hardcore data. The latest 2025 Container Port Performance Index released by the World Bank and S&P Global Markets Intelligence shows that Vietnam's Haiphong Port has jumped from 30th place in 2024 to 13th place globally, while the Gia Mei Port Group has remained in 11th place with a score of 122, both entering the top 20 most efficient container ports in the world. This is not a coincidence, but a systematic upgrade that has lasted for five years.

Five years and 52 minutes, what did Haiphong Port run out of
CPPI covers 400 container ports worldwide with cargo handling time and vessel stay time as core indicators. The Gaimei Port Group and Haiphong Port both received 122 points, second only to traditional strong ports such as Fuzhou, Dalian, Ningbo, Hong Kong in China, as well as Salalah in Oman and Kobe in Japan. More noteworthy is that Haiphong Port's score has skyrocketed from 70 points to 122 points between 2020 and 2025, ranking among the top 20 ports in the world with the greatest improvement, achieving a qualitative leap in operational efficiency and service capabilities.
Reshaping Vietnam's Industrial Attraction Logic
The leap in port rankings has directly driven the reassessment of the location value of industrial parks along the route. An Meide Group's industrial park happens to be stuck on this logistics golden belt. Ha Long Industrial City is located in Guangning Province, only 45 kilometers away from Haiphong Port; Bianhe and Longcheng Industrial City in the southern province of Tongna, located 40 to 60 kilometers away from the Gaimei Port Group; Guangzhi Industrial City enjoys a strategic location in the deep-water port of Luo Island in central Vietnam, while also enjoying preferential policies as the highest level economic zone in Vietnam. The combination of three major regions, three ports, and triple policies has made these parks an efficient entry point for multinational enterprises to layout their supply chains in Vietnam.
