On May 24, 2024, at the Dashishi Wind Farm in the southeastern part of Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County, with the roar of the concrete pump truck, the concrete pouring work of the wind turbine tower base of the Dongfang Electric Mulei 1 million kilowatt wind power project was stepped up. The project will be completed and put into operation by the end of the year, a solid step forward.
Dongfang Electric's Mulei 1 million kilowatt wind power project is located in the Dashitou Wind Farm in the southeastern part of Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County, about 70 kilometers away from Mulei County. The site is crisscrossed with ravines, undulating landforms, and rich in wind resources. According to the plan, Dongfang Electric’s Mulei 1 million kilowatt wind power project plans to build and install 124 wind turbines, support chemical energy storage, power collection lines and other projects, and build a new 220 kV collection station. The project will start construction in November 2023 and is expected to be completed and connected to the grid in December 2024.
"Dongfang Electric's Mulei 1 million kilowatt wind power project is Xinjiang's first million-kilowatt mountain wind farm, and it is also the mountain wind farm with the largest single unit capacity currently under construction in China. After the project is completed, it will provide 2.7 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity every year. It will also become a benchmark project for domestic wind power new energy technology innovation demonstration project," said Ma Ronghua, member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Dongfang Electric Wind Power Co., Ltd.
According to reports, the project’s most powerful wind turbine will be a 10-megawatt large-scale wind turbine independently developed by Dongfang Electric Wind Power Co., Ltd. The diameter of the unit's impeller is 222 meters, which is equivalent to the width of nearly four Boeing 787 aircraft side by side; the hub center height is up to 160 meters, and the wind turbine sweep area is equivalent to the area of 5.4 standardized football fields.
In 2022, Dongfang Electric Wind Power Co., Ltd. established Xinjiang Dongfang Wind Power New Energy Co., Ltd. in Mulei. In that year, it invested in the construction of a high-end new energy equipment manufacturing base with an annual output of 3 million kilowatts of wind turbine blades and main engines, which was realized on November 1 of that year. The first set of products was successfully shipped. The project achieved the goal of “signing the contract in the same year, starting construction in the same year, completing the project in the same year, and taking effect in the same year”. In March 2023, the second phase expansion project of Dongfang Electric (Mulei) new energy high-end equipment manufacturing base started, and the implementation of intelligent manufacturing and digital production projects further promoted the construction of Mulei's new energy equipment manufacturing industrial system. The construction of Dongfang Electric's Mulei 1 million kilowatt wind power project has also realized Dongfang Electric's industrial expansion from focusing on wind power equipment manufacturing to integrating development of equipment manufacturing and new energy development.
Song Jianfeng, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Minsheng Industrial Park of Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County, introduced that in recent years, Mulei has closely focused on the local new energy industry development positioning and resource location advantages, and has innovatively promoted new energy "1+N+X" "The whole-industry ecological chain development model has attracted a large number of new energy companies with heavy investment, high technological content and strong industrial driving force, including Xinjiang Dongfang Wind Power New Energy Co., Ltd., through chain extension, chain replenishment, chain strengthening and chain expansion. The establishment of development and equipment manufacturing enterprises has promoted breakthrough growth in the new energy industry. In 2023, the annual power generation of Mulei New Energy will exceed 10 billion kilowatt-hours, and the new energy industry will show a good trend of chain cluster development.Editor/Zhao E
