Although the Arab countries and China are far apart, they have maintained friendly exchanges since ancient times and are deepening cooperation under the tide of economic globalization. Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed more than 10 years ago, the cooperation between the two sides in various fields has provided important impetus to the development and revitalization of Arab countries.
The Belt and Road Initiative is highly compatible with the development strategies of Arab countries and is naturally attractive to them. At present, all 22 Arab countries and the Arab League have signed cooperation documents with China on jointly building the Belt and Road. From the construction of infrastructure to the upgrading of production equipment to the improvement of logistics and transportation conditions, the cooperation between the two countries in various fields has become increasingly close, and Chinese manufacturing and technology have brought huge opportunities for the development of Arab countries.
Kuwait is the first Gulf Arab country to establish diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China and the first Middle Eastern country to sign the Belt and Road cooperation document with China. Over the years, Kuwait and China have supported each other in the pursuit of development, with close economic and trade exchanges and frequent people-to-people and cultural exchanges, laying a solid foundation for the two countries to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. The cooperation between the two sides aims at mutual benefit and win-win results and promotes common development. Taking cooperation in communications technology as an example, the Chinese company Huawei helped Kuwait build the Middle East's first nationwide commercial 5G network and build digital infrastructure, making important contributions to Kuwait's digital transformation and development. Last year, during the visit of then-Kuwaiti Crown Prince Mishal to China, the leaders of the two countries witnessed the signing of the Joint Statement on the Five-Year Plan for Bilateral Cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the State of Kuwait (2024-2028) and a number of bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of renewable energy, infrastructure construction and environmental governance. It defines the direction of efforts for Kuwait and China to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
The Belt and Road Initiative has been widely welcomed in the world, which fully demonstrates that the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits of the Belt and Road conforms to the requirements of The Times. At present, more than 150 countries and more than 30 international organizations have joined the Belt and Road cooperation, demonstrating the openness and inclusiveness of the initiative. China has so far held three Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, with many participants and fruitful outcomes, demonstrating the appeal and global influence of the initiative. The Belt and Road Initiative has been well received not only because of its positive impact on national economic and social development, but also because of its profound philosophical ideas. Linking the government's development strategy closely to the needs of the people is exactly the development philosophy that the world needs today.
At present, China is speeding up the development of new quality productive forces, and Gulf Arab countries are also promoting economic diversification. Looking to the future, we welcome more powerful Chinese enterprises to participate in the development of Arab countries and continuously promote the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries to achieve greater harvests.
